It is well-known in the Chinese medicine world that sourcing and quality control can be challenging. Many Chinese herbs are sprayed with pesticides, and few are grown organically. This poses a problem when creating formulas, decoctions, and products like our yoni washes & steam. The goal of these herbal products is to reduce if not eliminate symptoms, not create new ones.
Many Chinese herbs not only have pesticides on them, but they also have mycotoxins such as aflatoxin and potentially heavy metals. Some herbs are improperly processed with chemicals, changing the structure of the healing constituents. The standards of testing herbs vary from supplier to supplier, for example some suppliers accept lower levels of pesticides while others hold higher standards with none detected. These variances often are rooted in Chinese medicine companies having the desire for easy-to-use, inexpensive formulas rather than the quality of ingredients. This approach to Chinese medicine is with intention to make it accessible and affordable, as it has always been in China.

Spring Wind has the most rigorous pesticide testing program in the industry, and only accepts herbs that read an ND (none detected) result. They offer seven grades of herbs, ranging from premium-grade, premium-in-house tested grade, pesticide-free, organic, grown without pesticides, conventional (standard), and low level of pesticide residues. All of their herbs are tested by in-house vapor testing (limit of 1.0 ppm) or by lab titration. Herbs that are susceptible to aflatoxins such as seeds and grains are tested as well.
