Zhu Ling| Polyporus | Umbel Polypore Mushroom
Properties: Sweet, bland, slightly cool
Channels: Spleen, Kidney and Urinary Bladder
The key function of this mushroom is to promote urination, leach out dampness, and facilitate fluid metabolism.
Zhu Ling is in our yoni wash white formulation. It works synergistically with herbs like Fu Ling, also in our yoni wash white, to help remove dampness often associated with imbalances like yeast infection.
One of the major symptoms associated with yeast infection is what is often called cottage cheese or bean curd-like discharge. This is an abnormal form of leukorrhea, which is known in Chinese Medicine as damp retention. In a previous blog post, we discussed the spleen and its role in Chinese Medicine theory to process or transform the food and drink we consume. When this function is slowed down it can cause the body to retain dampness. Zhu Ling can enter the spleen meridian, which in turn assists the body in resolving dampness. Zhu Ling specifically supports that process by promoting urination. This is why some women who use this wash noticed an increase in urination, this is one of how the formula is helping your body come back to balance.
The main active constituents in Zhu Ling include polysaccharides and sterols, and the secondary compounds include fatty acids, phenols, ergosterol, triterpenoids, beta-glucans, and several vitamins. These rich bioactive compounds explain Zhu Ling’s anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, diuretic, antioxidant, anti-mutagenic, anti-neoplastic, and hepatoprotective properties. These properties have been verified “many times in vivo and in vitro experiments.” ¹
Similar to many other mushrooms, such as Ling Zhu or Reishi, it has protective properties against radiation.
Zhu Ling is gentle in its actions, specifically within our yoni-wash white formula because it is a topical application. Zhu Ling’s rich bioactive profile makes it a powerhouse herb and a key herb in our yoni wash white.
