Han Lian Cao (Eclipta prostrata/Herba Ecliptae) is a traditional Chinese medicine herb used in our topical Meno-Wash™ (proprietary blended decoction of traditional Chinese herbs).
This Chinese herb has several benefits, some of its effects include liver protection against toxins and harmful substances, anti-inflammatory effects that may help reduce inflammation in the body, hair growth promotion, and anti-cancer effects.
Han Lian Cao is used in Meno-Wash™ for its potential anti-inflammatory effect. A study published in the journal Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology in 2008 found that an extract of Han Lian Cao had anti-inflammatory effects in rats.
Another main reason why we include Han Lian Cao in our Meno-Wash™ is because of its potential anti-cancer effects. Some studies have suggested that Han Lian Cao may have anti-cancer effects. According to a study published in the journal Nutrition and Cancer in 2010 found that an extract of Han Lian Cao had anti-cancer effects in human liver cancer cells.
Han Lian Cao can be applied topically for its potential anti-inflammatory effects. During Menopause or post-menopausal stage of life inflammation of the vagina can be present; this may be referred to as atrophic vaginitis which may include redness of the vagina, itching, and vaginal discharge. Our Meno-Wash™ is formulated with traditional Chinese medicine herbs that may help reduce inflammation/redness, stop itching, astringing of abnormal discharge, and moistening dryness.
It is always best to consult a licensed Acupuncturist or practitioner of Chinese medicine. For general questions about the herbs or use of our products feel free to send us an email for a free consultation.
