Chinese Medicine Guidelines for Yoni (Vaginal) Health

Chinese Medicine Guidelines for Yoni (Vaginal) Health.

1.     Avoid dairy products in your diet. Some dairy in moderation like yogurt is ok for the benefit of probiotics. However, in general, dairy products that are processed can create a damp environment in our bodies and for women it can present an imbalance through the Yoni. And if you do decide to incorporate dairy products in your diet, make sure that they do not include the following as it may contribute to creating a damp like environment that may be accompanied with inflammation: high fructose corn syrup, and processed sugars.

2.    Avoid cold foods. This recommendation gets shared a lot by Chinese medicine practitioners. Cold or iced fruit &/or vegetable smoothies are considered cold since they are cold in temperature, raw, not cooked, and tend to be difficult to digest. Cold foods tend to be difficult to digest, and iced food or drinks weaken the function of the spleen (digestive system). Eating cold foods leads to damp-cold accumulations since the spleen’s function (TCM context) is to transport and transform nutrients. If the spleen has trouble with transporting and transforming food/nutrients it can create phlegm in the body and/or inflammation. This phlegm tends to be clear and copious, sometimes white, which can be accumulated in areas of the body including the Yoni (vagina). Use our topical wash Yoni Wash - White to help provide gentle relief of this type of imbalance.

The Yoni is self-cleaning, that is a fact. However, in a traditional Chinese medicine context when dampness accumulates it can create undesired symptoms that are difficult to deal with. Chinese medicine herbs can be applied topically to help alleviate some of these symptoms by focusing on the underlying cause, in this way we can select the best Chinese medicine herbs to get to the root problem, alleviate symptoms, and to help assist the Yoni to achieve back its normal homeostasis.

3.     Avoid spicy foods and alcohol. Spicy foods and alcohol create internal heat in the body. If there is already heat present in the body, then this can add to it and aggravate symptoms for example it may aggravate inflammatory conditions and symptoms. This may aggravate inflammation of the vagina and contribute to burning sensation discomfort. Use our topical wash Yoni Wash - Yellow to help provide gentle relief of this type of imbalance.

4.     Drink plenty of water. You want to drink the recommended amount for your daily intake, but keep in mind that the same amount does not fit for all. Height, weight, level of physical activity are all factors in for how much one needs to drink to stay hydrated. In general, in Chinese medicine it is recommended to drink as soon as you start to feel a little thirst, drink only until your thirst is satisfied, do not force your water intake especially if you already met the recommended daily intake of drinking water and fluids.

5.     Change your clothing including your undergarments after exercising and sweating. By doing so this prevents dampness from entering the body as your pores are opened while sweating. In Chinese medical theory, when your pores are open therefore your channels are open to pathogens from getting into the interior channels of the body. This initiates a mechanism for pathogenic factors and influence into the interior aspect of the body.

 6.     Shower after sex. Sweat and bodily fluids excreted after sexual intimacy should be prevented from entering back into the body or remaining on the body.

7.     Avoid exposure to extreme cold or hot temperatures this includes exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, cold bodies of water such as ice plunges, and excessive attendance at steam rooms or saunas.
